News: Christmas Shopping For Women by jaye

I just watched an ad where numerous men complained about buying Christmas presents for the women in their life. If they got lingerie it was too big, too small, too trashy. If they got chocolate they were on a diet. If they got an iron they were berated. And it got me thinking buying for most women at Christmas time sucks.
In general, women are demanding and picky and project what they want on their counterpart. I'm not judging, I sometimes do it too, and I feel bad for the men out there. I remember once I walked to the train station in boots with a stiletto heel- my feet were so sore by the end of it that I asked my boyfriend to pick me up a pair of thongs on his way to pick me up.
They were so bad that I can not even find an image on Goggle that even resembles them. Let's just say they were pink and Hawaiian with a gross bejewelling on them. It was almost three years ago and he has not lived it down and I doubt he ever will.
Christmas would have to be one of the worst times for a g... Christmas Shopping For Women at 2threads

News: Billion Dollar Babes Expands to Plus Sized by jaye

High-end fashion labels are usually synonymous with itty bitty clothing sizes but Billion Dollar Babes is about to change all that. They are producing a plus-size range in collaboration with City Chic clothing boutiques. Billion Dollar Babes designer, Michelle Cooke, will create cool, fashion forward frocks for sizes 14-22 in response to high consumer demand.
Personally, while I do not shop at City Chic, I applaud and welcome this decision. Who knows if more designers will continue to jump on the bandwagon, lets hope so. I think, no matter what size you are, everyone deserves to feel beautiful and this move is a step in the right direction for plus sized women out there.
Yay!
What do you think of this move?... Billion Dollar Babes Expands to Plus Sized at 2threads

News: How Do I Wear the Menswear Trend? by tarynbensky

How Do I Wear the Menswear Trend?
There are a lot of menswear pieces out there, but it's an art pulling the look off. Here are some tips to pull it all together without sacrificing your personal style.

Incorporating menswear into your look should always have a clean, polished effect. You never want to look like you actually stole your father's or boyfriend's pieces and threw them on. While the boyfriend blazer, as shown in Alexander Wang's Spring/Summer 09 collection, above, is a more relaxed fit, it does skim the body rather than be enormously oversized. And the shorts, businesslike in every way except their diminuative size, are the perfect companion to the oversized jacket.
Many designers showed menswear in their spring 2009 collections aside from Wang, including Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani, Max Mara, Ralph Lauren and Escada. Taking direct cues or only slightly gleaning from the silhouttes, menswear added a decidedly fall feel to the spring collections, a season usually ...
News: HELP WANTED! WHERE TO SHOP IN MELBOURNE? by KRYSTINE

This coming Saturday 22nd November I will be flying from my hometown of Sydney to Melbourne for 4 glorious days off work aka 4 glorious days of shopping! Having never been before (yes, a very sad fact and also sad to admit online) I was wondering does anyone have any advice as to what stores you’d recommend?

I wear anything from designer labels to good quality vintage pieces and everything in-between! I’m also looking to pick up a few things to decorate the house whether old or new, a couple of vinyl records for my sister and maybe an expensive pair of jeans. I’d love to know what your favourite stores are and if there have been any new store openings that are worth the visit.

Also sightseeing spots, restaurants, clubs/bars and anything you’d like to share about Melbourne that you know of or have discovered would be handy for this eager first timer!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hopefully I end u... HELP WANTED! WHERE TO SHOP IN MELBOURNE? at 2threads

News: THE FINDERS KEEPERS SPRING/SUMMER MARKETS by KRYSTINE

For Sydneysiders it seems that our skies are in some kind of confused limbo. The warm weather that I’ve been eagerly awaiting just hasn’t settled in yet. Or we’ve been hit with scorching heat one day and been drenched in pouring rain the next. There just hasn’t been any stability for me to be able to plan a day out doing one of my favourite pastimes - going to the markets.

Fortunately, I can now scribble down dates for the arrival of The Finders Keepers Spring/Summer Markets on the weekend of the 5th and 6th December and held indoors at CarriageWorks so it won’t matter what the forecast is!

I love events that showcase independent designers as they combine techniques and elements in ways that challenge the way we think of design, offering something refreshing and usually at a more wallet-friendly price. Your attendance also means that these designers get supported and a successful result usually secures future markets fo... THE FINDERS KEEPERS SPRING/SUMMER MARKETS at 2threads

News: THE RETURN OF THE MAXI DRESS by KRYSTINE

You’re either loving them or running in the opposite direction.

Looks like the staple of summer ‘07 wasn’t a fashion cast-off after all as we watch the cheapest to the most expensive stores again fill their floors with the desired maxi dress for the current sizzling season.

When they first arrived a year ago, the trend was somewhat shaky and most fashion writers didn’t gush as they usually do with must-haves that are promising. Also, only a limited number of labels produced the maxi but now you’ll find it clearly a hit with every designer manifesting their own translation. Safari-inspired, paisley, solid colours, bold prints and floral, anything goes really.

The maxi trend is totally wearable especially when you think of the other fads like sheer that should strictly stay on models on the runway. I’ve seen the skinny, curvy, well-endowed... THE RETURN OF THE MAXI DRESS at 2threads

News: Nobody Wa s Thirsty campaign by jennalee

If you love fashion, then you are bound to love fashion with a conscience even more. Look no further than the Nobody Wa s Thirsty project. The project is a collaboration between Ivan Kane’s café Wa s, charity; water, and Australia’s own denim label, Nobody.
News: Fashion Advice For Every Body Type by piscesris

Fashion advice for every body type is tough advice to give and get but sometimes a few little suggestions can go a long way. There are generally five different body types for women and sometimes we're a combination so dressing can be tricky at times.

Women with Round body types are blessed with a generous bust and legs that Pear and Diamon shape women would die for. They're a little fuller in the middle section with narrow hips. The best styles of tops for a round body shape are v-neck lines which help elongate the neck, but avoid tight-fitting tops. The trick is to be comfortable when standing and sitting and tight tops can make that chellenging. For bottoms, choose pencil skirts and bootcut bottoms because th...
